Join Me Online Thursday, March 26 for my Masterclass: Storytelling for Children in Times of Trouble

The School of Sophia and I started planning this online class many weeks before Covid 19 transformed life as we know it. My intention in those simpler times was to show parents and teachers how to use stories to empower children to deal with disappointments, difficult social situations, behavior challenges, new routines, losses, crises, and the usual developmental challenges of childhood. I looked forward to talking about how invented stories can become a pleasant part of your parenting routine and can deepen your relationship with your children.

Then, rather suddenly, the daily lives of parents and children changed. Schools are closed. Activities are cancelled and time with playmates is postponed. Almost every parent on the planet is tasked with helping their child adjust to a life structure that is profoundly altered. Now, more than ever, children need stories that shine a light on their inner path. So, to meet the times, I have re-titled the class: Storytelling for Children in Times of Trouble and I’ve re-imagined the class to meet the moment.

I hope you will join me Thursday, March 26 at 4 PM Eastern Daylight Time to learn about how to use stories to help your child(ren) through this time of solitude and beyond. We will start out with a focus on the importance of stories at this moment in history. You are capable of creating stories that will nourish your child at this time and into the future. Above all I will call on your courage to create narratives that truly meet the needs of your children, that address their specific worries, that help them feel seen and that shines a light on their path.

— the science that uncovers why stories work (hint: it has to do with curiosity.)

— the storytelling relationship
